pearlescence

It's a gray rainy day, the sky a pearlescence. This reminds me of my rings inlaid with shell. They are perfect with a gray outfit on a gray day. I like the one on the right best as it was a gift from my husband from one of our favorite stores.

other green rings

Sorry to my regular jewelry readers. My other passion, writing poetry, has taken over my attention these last few days. I have set a goal of 50 pages (Rough draft) before the end of the month. So far I only have 26 or 27. So I might not be on this blog for another few days. Here are some other green rings that I have.

Escada Necklace

I can't stay away from jewelry very long. As my husband says, I've stalking this necklace for 24 years. This is a necklace I'd be willing to cut my hair for. I could wear it all winter long over everything!

zipper flowers 1

Zipper flowers are a fun way to create new jewels when you are broke or lonely. I like my flowers to be made out of vintage zippers. I don't like the loud polyester colors of many new zippers. I just scored a basket of old zippers which I will share here soon!

zipper flowers

I'm getting tired of blogging about jewels so I thought it would be fun to explore zipper flowers. They're easy to make, and you can make use of all your bits a pieces of old jewelry in the process. More about this fun project in the days to come.

At one hundred

If I make it to One Hundred Years Old, I will wear a tiara everyday for the rest of my life!

For your nineties

This is a ring that opens into a secret container. Such rings are called poison rings and this is one made in the design of a poisonous frog! Ladies in their nineties, as the ancients of the race, should be allowed to wear highly mystical pieces of jewelry along with diamonds, of course. These poison rings are highly useful as pill boxes. I love this cunning little ring and plan to wear it a lot when I get older!

In your eighties

Emeralds, jade and diamonds. Just perfect for women in their eighties. The luxurious green color complements white hair. Green is a nice accent color for an older woman's more limited color pallet. Jade adds a exotic touch of the Orient.

In your seventies

As you can see I can't wait to get into my seventies! Big, fun, colorful stones seem right to me for this exciting time of life. Think of jewelry you can wear on a cruise. Large rings should be worn with large matching necklaces. I think Barbara Walters has set a wonderful example of style in her seventies.

For you sixties

Big diamonds or diamond clusters are nice for your sixties. At that age they don't seem inappropriately flashy or show-offy. In your sixties you have the gravitas to wear a large diamond. You can also wear nice sized diamond earrings or a large solitaire on a super fine chain. In your sixties you are at the height of your career so you want to look serious, yet stylish in a classic way.

In your fifties

In your fifties, you should definitely have some diamonds. I'm not advocating conflict diamonds or anything like that. I'm saying that you can find a nice diamond second hand. I recommend shopping in pawn shops for an old diamond. EBay is good too. I love diamonds; what can I say? I believe everyone deserves to wear one nice diamond by the time she is fifty. Don't wait for someone to give you one. If someone does, how great is that? But otherwise, make it happen!

For your Forties

For your forties a good gold chain is a must. Sure styles will change, but if you pick something simple you can always blend it in with a more time sensitive piece. For instance I plan to wear this chain with a strand of gold pearls with a Roman coin pendant which is a popular motif this season. Again.

In your thirties

In your thirties it is nice to find that perfect antique that can become your signature piece. As you know this is one of my favorite pieces. I have a blue velvet coat that I wear with it around the holidays. I just think think this lady is so pretty, and she reminds me of a Jane Austen character. I will never regret saving up the money it took to buy her.
